When making a purchase with your credit card for Catering or Web To go online ordering, we now require the CVV code (you can find it on the back of your credit card or front if using American Express). We also want to make sure the billing address matches what’s on file, so you may be asked to re-enter the information if doesn’t match.

Putting these new changes in place will help to ensure your experience is safe, secure and stays delicious.

Our Promise

If for any reason you’re not fully satisfied, just call us at 800.992.1849 and we’ll gladly replace or refund your order. This guarantee applies to all perishable food products. Refunds on a non-perishable product will be processed on returned merchandise only.

Do you offer tours?

Yes, you’re welcome to visit the Boudin Bakery Tour at Fisherman’s Wharf in San Francisco, California. Our bread is baked daily in our new full production Bakery. You are also welcome to visit the Boudin Bakery Tour at Disney’s California Adventure Park in Anaheim, California.

Will Boudin Bakery sell or rent my information to other companies?

We use the personally identifiable information you provide for internal purposes only, such as confirming and tracking your order, subscription and/or registration to inform you of new products, services, and offers, etc. From time to time we might establish a business relationship with other persons or entities who we deem trustworthy and whose privacy policies are consistent with ours. In such cases we might share information, including personally identifiable information about you, that will enable such persons or entities to contact you regarding products and services that may be of interest to you.

Online Ordering Pre-Authorization

When ordering online, a pre-authorization is placed on your payment card at 120% of your order amount. This allows us to secure payment on the day your order is fulfilled. Please note that you will see a ‘pending’ transaction on your statement after placing your order with us. Payment processing will take place on end of the day the order is fulfilled and you will see the ‘pending’ transaction change to a ‘posted’ for the actual final amount.

How can I order catering?

We offer three easy ordering options for your convenience:

Once we’ve received your order, we assign the restaurant that is closest to your delivery location to your event. We’ll provide you with contact information for the assigned restaurant when we receive your order.

What can I order from catering?

We cater events large and small. Choose from a variety of selections that range from our popular sandwich baskets, hearty salads, soups, chili and entertainment platters to freshly baked pastries and desserts. Call a Catering Team Member to learn more at 877.988.1849 or 415.283.1230.

What is your cancellation policy?

We understand that plans change and we will gladly assist you in making changes to your catering order date and time. We accept weekday cancellations before 2:00pm the day before your event and weekend cancellations by noon on Friday. All changes must be directed to the location handling your event. Same day cancellations will result in a 50% charge.

How do I know how much to order for my occasion?

We can help you judge the right quantities based on the number of event attendees or offer menu suggestions for your occasion. Not all items are available at all locations. For questions, please call our catering office at 1.877.988.1849.

Do you deliver?

We would be happy to deliver your order with a $50.00 minimum order size. There is also a 10% delivery fee on all orders. To ensure a smooth delivery, please remember to provide the complete address for your event (including suite and floor numbers), as well as the name and number of the designated contact person for your event.

Can I order for same-day catering?

Although we can accommodate same-day orders, we suggest you place your order as early as possible to lock in your preferred delivery time.

What if I need to change something on my order?

For catering changes or questions up to one day before your event, please call our catering office at 1.877.988.1849. For immediate assistance on the day of your event, please call the restaurant that is handling your order directly.

Will my order be confirmed?

Once your order is placed, we’ll send an order confirmation via phone or email. Please take a moment to check that your menu is correct and that delivery date, time, contact information and address are also accurate.

What is the Boudin Loyalty Rewards Program?

The Boudin Loyalty Rewards Program is our in-restaurant loyalty program designed to show appreciation for our loyal guests. Each time you make a purchase at the restaurant, you will be awarded one (1) reward point for every dollar spent. For every 50 points accumulated you will receive $3 off. The $3 reward will be automatically loaded to your account and you will receive an email notification to let you know it’s there. As a loyalty member, you will also be the first to receive special promotions!

Are the Boudin Frequent Buyer Rewards Program & the Boudin Loyalty Rewards Program different?

No. The Frequent Buyer Program and the Loyalty Program are the same. We just updated the name in 2016.

Do all purchases count toward earning reward points?

No. The following do not apply toward earning reward points: Gift Card purchases, sales associated with coupons/vouchers, the Boudin It’s On Us card, Catering, and Gift Catalog purchases.

How do I sign up/register for the Boudin Loyalty Rewards Program?

There are several ways to sign up/register for our Loyalty Program:

  1. Boudin Mobile App: This is the most convenient way to participate in our program as you can easily earn and track your rewards, as well as order online through the use of your smartphone. All you need to do is download our Mobile App and select “Not yet a member” to begin filling out the registration fields.
  2. Sign up for a Digital Card: Prefer to go cardless? We have you covered! Visit boudin.myguestaccount.com/guest/and sign up for a digital card. Once you have registered for your account, you can begin to earn credit by giving the cashier your account number, or they can look it up by your phone number.
  3. The Loyalty Card: Stop into any one of our Boudin SF or Bakery Café locations and pick up a Loyalty Card, then register it at boudin.myguestaccount.com/guest/register. Have your card swiped at the restaurant to ensure that the card is activated. Although your card can still be used to earn credits, it must be registered before you can redeem rewards.
Is the mobile app easy to use?

Yes. Here’s how easy it is to use:

  1. Launch the app
  2. Select your location
  3. Choose your desired restaurant from the list of locations (the list may or may not be geo-targeted depending on your smartphone settings)
  4. Select “Check in”
  5. The system will assign a short code for use at that location only
  6. Tell the cashier the short code and proceed to place your order


How can I convert my loyalty account information to the mobile app?

All you need to do is download our mobile app and select “Already a member.” You will then be asked to input the 16 digit number that is featured below the mag strip on the back of your loyalty card, or the 10 digit account number from your digital card.

How does the FREE monthly bread reward work?

Upon registering for our loyalty program you will receive a FREE one pound loaf of The Original San Francisco Sourdough™ every month. This reward will be activated with your first purchase of each month–your purchase can be anything! Your free bread reward can be picked up in person at any Boudin Restaurant location (excludes Disneyland). Unfortunately, we cannot ship or mail your bread reward. Alternatively, if you do not make a purchase or redeem your FREE monthly bread reward, it will go away so be sure to use it in that given month.

Can I upgrade my FREE monthly bread reward for a more expensive loaf of bread?

Yes. Once you have made your first purchase of the month and activated your FREE monthly bread reward, you will receive a credit of $3.99 that can be applied towards the loaf of bread of your choice.

How do I sign up for the birthday reward?

Just input your birth date when registering and a reward for a FREE Sweet Treat will be automatically uploaded to your account at the beginning of your birth month. An email will be sent to let you know that your birthday reward is uploaded and waiting to be used. Alternatively, if you do not redeem your sweet treat reward in your birthday month, it will go away.

Can I earn credit for orders placed online via Web-To-Go?

Yes. If using our mobile app, the reward points will be automatically uploaded to your account after the payment portion of the transaction has been completed.

For non-mobile app orders, sign in to your Web-To-Go ordering account. Click on the My Account tab, locate Boudin Rewards and input your Loyalty Rewards account number.

Can I earn credit or redeem my reward in conjunction with any other discounts, offers, or promotions?

No, you cannot earn rewards or redeem when using other discounts or promotional offers.

Do I earn points for the purchase of gift cards?

No. You do not earn points for the purchase of gift cards. However, if the recipient of your gift card registers as a Boudin Loyalty Rewards Program member, they will.

How can I track my rewards/reward points?

When you provide your loyalty account and make a purchase at participating Boudin locations, your points will automatically be tracked.

When using our mobile app, the information is immediately updated under your “Rewards”.

All loyalty purchases will be provided at the bottom of your receipt with:

  • Points earned for the given transaction
  • Points balance
  • Free Monthly Bread Reward (note – the bread reward should never read more than one as they go away each month if not redeemed within the month issued)

What if I don’t see the points on my account after I login online?

Make sure you are checking the Loyalty Rewards page and NOT the Catering or Gift login page. The Loyalty Rewards login page can be found here: boudin.myguestaccount.com/guest/accountlogin

What do I do if I forget to get credit at the time of purchase?

Unfortunately, we are unable to apply credits after the transaction has taken place, so please remember to inform the cashier of your shortcode if using our mobile app, or provide your account information, at the time you are placing your order.

How do I redeem my rewards once I have earned them?

If using the Loyalty mobile app, rewards are automatically updated once you have earned them. The next time you order, check in and provide the short code, and let the cashier know you have a reward you’d like to use.

If you do not have the mobile app, you will receive an email to let you know that a $3 reward has been uploaded to your account. The next time you order, you can let the cashier know that you would like to redeem your reward.

Do my rewards expire?

Yes, rewards do expire. The $3 reward will expire 90 days from the date of receipt if not used. An email will be sent as a reminder to come in and redeem it before it is removed. The monthly FREE bread reward and birthday sweet treat reward will expire if not used in the given month that they are uploaded to your account.

How many rewards can I redeem at once?

You may redeem your $3 off reward and your monthly FREE bread reward at the same time if you’d like.

Do redeemed rewards count as credits toward rewards?

No. Redeemed rewards do not count as credit toward rewards.

What happens if I lose my Boudin Loyalty Rewards card?

If your card is registered, all history and credit towards rewards will be transferrable to a new card. If the card is not registered, the history will be lost and non-retrievable.

Can I redeem rewards without registering for the Boudin Loyalty Rewards Program?

No. You cannot redeem any rewards until you register for the program. However, you can still earn credits for your purchases.

How do you use the personally identifiable information I provide when I register for the Boudin Loyalty Rewards Program?

We will never sell your personally identifiable information. Please review our Privacy Policy to see how we use the personally identifiable information you provide when registering the card.

How can I place an order?

For your convenience, we offer two ways to place an order:

Telephone: contact us at 800.992.1849. To expedite your order, please have address, phone number, and credit card information ready. Our call center hours are 8:30 am – 5:00 pm Monday through Friday, January to November, PST.

When will my order be shipped?

Our handcrafted sourdough bread is baked and shipped same day to get our bread to you faster and fresher. We only ship on Wednesdays during January to November and Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday in December with two-day shipment for delivery Wednesday to Friday same week.

Does the Boudin Loyalty Rewards Program apply to the Gift Catalog?

No. Our Loyalty Rewards Program is our in-restaurant loyalty program. You can not earn or redeem reward points from our in-restaurant Loyalty Program for Gift Catalog purchases.

What forms of payment do you accept?

American Express, VISA, MasterCard, Discover, Money Order or check.

Will I get an order confirmation online?

After you place your order, you will receive an order confirmation on your checkout screen, and an order confirmation will also be sent via email. An order number will be provided to you in these confirmations to reference your order.

Do you offer corporate discounts?

Why are some breads not available for individual sale?

Customer demand dictates which breads are sold in "bulk".

Do you charge sales tax on gifts?

Appropriate sales tax is included on all orders, including gifts for shipments within California.

I ordered a gift basket and an item that I received was different than the description. Why?

Most of the items we have selected to be in our gift baskets come from small, local companies. Occasionally we may run out of a particular flavor or brand. Rather than delay your shipment (especially during the holidays), we will select a comparable product to send. If you are not satisfied, just call us at 800.992.1849, and we’ll gladly replace the item.

Do you sell gift certificates?

We currently do not sell gift certificates.

Can I customize my own gift?

No, but you can order accompaniments to be added to most gifts.

Do you sell wine with your gifts?

Yes, we do, but different state licensing laws only allows us to ship wine orders to the following states at this time: CA, ND, & WV. Wine may only be purchased by individuals 21 years or older and requires a signature upon delivery from an individual 21 years or older.

How should I store the salame I purchase from Boudin, and why does it appear white on the outside?

We sell only the traditional Italian Dry salame, which exhibits a beneficial mold growth on the outside. This growth is essential to its flavor and longevity. Salame should be refrigerated once you receive it. The salame is cured, so the longer the salame is stored, the more moisture it will lose and harder the salame will become.

Do you ship to PO Boxes?

Unfortunately, we cannot ship to PO Boxes, general delivery, or APO/FPO.

Can I order a gift to be shipped internationally?

Unfortunately, to guarantee product quality, we do not ship our products outside the United States.

We’ve selected UPS and GSO as our premier delivery service providers. Our standard shipping will deliver your package within one day in CA and two days for other states.

Why do you ship all orders 2-day express?

Because Boudin products are made without any additives or preservatives to extend shelf-life, we bake our products on the day we ship for delivery within 2 days to ensure that you receive the freshest product possible. Our shipping rates are also comparable to other gourmet food companies.

Can I get the starter for your Sourdough bread?

No, Boudin carefully protects and safeguards our mother dough and it’s only used to bake The Original San Francisco Sourdough™.

How long will Boudin Sourdough keep?

Boudin Sourdough is made with unbleached flour, pure water, salt, and some of the original mother dough, and does not contain any preservatives. Our breads will stay fresh at room temperature for as long as 2-3 days if they’re kept away from heat and humidity. Temperatures should not exceed 70 degrees, and relative humidity should remain below 60%. Avoid direct sunlight. To store bread for up to two months, place package in a plastic bag, close tightly and refrigerate. To store bread for up to six months, place package in two plastic bags, close tightly and freeze. To thaw, remove bread from plastic bag until the entire loaf reaches room temperature.

I just received my order. The label says that it was shipped two days ago. Is it still fresh?

Yes, it is. Your complete satisfaction with every loaf of our famous sourdough is guaranteed. To ensure this, your bread is shipped the day it is baked.

Did Boudin Bakery invent sourdough?

The sourdough baking process has existed for thousands of years, but Boudin Bakery was the first to combine the sourdough process with French baking techniques to create the first sourdough French bread in 1849.

What makes Boudin sourdough sour?

The secret is in our starter, or mother dough, which includes micro-organisms that slowly and naturally ferment and raise the bread, producing a deliciously sour flavor. Our starter is proprietary, as it is the original mother dough from 1849, so we do not share or sell it. We don’t make an extra sour version of our bread, either, as we prefer to use the original Sourdough French Bread recipe.

What makes Boudin Sourdough French Bread special?

Boudin’s famous San Francisco Sourdough French Bread originated in 1849, in a tiny, old-world bakery on Dupont Street. There, a French immigrant named Isidore Boudin first kneaded a hearty dough, fermented with wild yeast and then formed it into the shape of a traditional French loaf. Our Sourdough French Bread is still made with flour, salt, & water and a portion of the original mother dough that dates back to the first loaf.

Can I order my bread extra sour?

The Boudin Sourdough French Bread recipe remains unchanged since 1849. To this day, we still use Isidore Boudin’s traditional methods, mixing unbleached flour, pure water, salt, and some of the original mother dough. For this reason, we do not make an extra sour product.

Your bread prices seems high. Why?

Boudin Sourdough French Bread is one-of-a-kind product that can’t be produced anywhere else. Our ingredients may be simple, but they’re the very best. Each loaf is hand shaped and scored, and each is made with a bit of the Mother Dough from the very first loaf baked in 1849. It can take up to three days to prepare and bake your bread.

The bread I order from the catalog is not the same as the one I purchased at the Café; why is that?

The bread purchased from Boudin Gift Catalog is lighter bake than our bread from the Café. Warm the bread in your oven for a mere ten minutes to experience a loaf of bread with the same great flavor, incomparable aroma, and crisp golden crust, just as though it came out of our San Francisco oven.
